We recently announced the purchase of 10 acres in Washoe Valley for a Collaborative Equine Assisted Services Facility. Having a permanent location will propel our unique and powerful programs to the next level, meet the demand for services, and expand LWH’s equine-assisted programs to provide more opportunities for people to experience the benefits of horses.
We have applied for a Special Use Permit for this new location, and our proposal is scheduled to be heard by the Washoe County Board of Adjustment on December 5, 2024.

Note that comments are welcomed during public hearing and are limited to three (3) minutes per person. Comments are to be directed to the board as a whole and not to one individual.

Volunteer
You can help by giving your time and expertise! Several types of volunteer opportunities are available:
Direct Program Assistance. Work directly with the horses and kids! We rely on volunteers to help our staff with the set-up, facilitation, and cleanup for group classes. Horse experience is helpful, but is not required. Training is provided (fee to cover the cost of background check and course materials).
Committees Help promote LEAD with Horses mission and programs or plan events and fundraisers.
General Support Assist in the office, set up for an event, post fliers, or …? We can use an extra hand behind the scenes.
